The College of Agriculture is one of the oldest colleges of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, with a history as long as 89 years.
Regarding postgraduate teaching, there are currently two degree authorization points, which are Doctoral Degree Authorization Points in Crop Science and Doctoral Degree Authorization Point in Agriculture. Doctoral Degree Authorization Points in Crop Science includes three majors, which are Crop Cultivation and Tillage, Crop Genetics and Breeding, and Biological Breeding. Doctoral Degree Authorization Point in Agriculture include one major, which is Agronomy and Seed Industry.
About undergraduate teaching, there are currently four undergraduate majors, namely agronomy, seed science and engineering, plant science and technology, and biological breeding science.
The college employs 88 full-time faculty members including 30 professors and 32 associate professors. Among them there are 18 national level talents, including one double-employed Academician, one national distinguished talent, etc.
The college has one National Sugarcane Engineering & Technology Center, one Key Laboratory of Crop Genetics, Breeding and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Education. The college has two key laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, namely, Key Laboratory of Fujian Sugarcane Biology and Genetic Breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Key Laboratory of Fujian and Taiwan Biological Breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
In the past five years, it has won 66 national scientific research projects, 175 ministerial and provincial projects, including 6 national key projects of more than 2 million. The college has won the first prize of national scientific and technological progress, the national science and technology invention award and other scientific research awards. The research results were published as the first author in Nature, Nature Genetics, PNAS, Nature Communications, Plant Cell, Current Biology and other international famous journals. It is at the international advanced level in the research fields of crop genome, plant immunity, plant reproductive development, sugarcane and bast fiber crops.
