Established in 1940, the College of Forestry currently hosts 1 postdoctoral research station, 1 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point, 1 professional doctoral degree authorization point, 1 first-level discipline master's degree authorization point, 1 professional master's degree authorization point, and 4 full-time undergraduate programs. The first-level discipline of Forestry has been selected as a national key discipline by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, a key development discipline by the Ministry of Education, and a top-priority construction discipline in Fujian Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The college operates 19 research platforms, including National Engineering Technology Research Center and Key Discipline Laboratories under the Ministry of Education. It boasts a national university-level Huang Danian-style Teacher Team and over 20 national-level talents.
Rooted in southern China's key commercial forest regions, the college conducts scientific researches addressing critical bottleneck problems in forestry production and has achieved a series of significant research outcomes. In recent years, it has led more than 300 national-level projects, including National Science and Technology Support Programs and National Key R&D Programs, and has received over 30 provincial, ministerial or higher level awards for scientific achievements.
Leveraging Fujian's geographical proximity to Taiwan, the college pioneered National Science and Technology Support Projects related to cross-strait collaboration and Cross-strait Joint Key Funds under the National Natural Science Foundation. It also established Cross-Strait Modern Forestry Research Center and Cross-Strait Collaborative Innovation Center for Soil and Water Conservation in Red Soil Areas, making significant contributions to facilitating the integrated development across the Strait.
