The College of Juncao Science and Ecology was established in August 2023. It consists of one institute and four departments. The Institute for Carbon Neutrality, which focuses on strategies for carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, cultivates open and interdisciplinary research teams, and actively explores new growth areas in the discipline of ecology. The four departments-Juncao Science, Ecology, Ecological Restoration, and Geography- are responsible for teaching and talent development in their respective academic fields.
The College has established a doctoral program and a postdoctoral research station in the first-level discipline of Ecology, as well as an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Juncao Science. It also offers master’s programs in the first-level disciplines of Ecology and Geography, and a professional master’s program in Agronomy and Seed Industry (Practaculture). At the undergraduate level, the College offers three programs: Ecology, Physical Geography & Resources and Environment, and Ecological Restoration. Currently, the College enrolls over 800 students, supporting a comprehensive and well-structured talent cultivation system that spans the entire academic trajectory from undergraduate to postdoctoral training.
The College currently comprises86 faculty and staff members, including 74 full-time faculty members. Among them, 46 hold senior professional titles, 15 serve as doctoral supervisors, and 50 as master’s supervisors. A total of 24 individuals have been recognized through provincial or higher-level talent programs. The College hosts 16 research platforms at the provincial level and above, including the National Engineering Research Center for Juncao Technology, the National-Local Joint Research Center, International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, the “111 Project” Innovation and Talent Introduction Base, and the Collaborative Innovation Center jointly supported by provincial and ministerial authorities. It also operates one Provincial Experimental Demonstration Center for Ecology, two Rural Revitalization Research Institutes, and six Science and Technology Courtyards.
In 2024, the College received approval for one graduate education demonstration case by the Ministry of Education, two provincial-level model graduate courses, and two textbooks included in the provincial “14th Five-Year Plan”. Additionally, it was awarded one provincial-level demonstration project (third batch) and two demonstration courses (fourth batch) in curriculum-based ideological and political education. The College was also awarded the First Prize for Teaching Achievement in Fujian Province, and had one case selected as a Best Practice in the Fifth Global Solicitation for Best Poverty Reduction Practices.
