Establishment Date
To better serve the Strong Maritime Country strategy and Maritime Fujian initiative, the university integrated its superior resources and research teams in marine-related fields to establish the College of Marine Sciences in November 2021.
Academic Programs
The college adheres to high-standard, top-tier, and quality-driven development principles, offering a complete talent training system from bachelor, master to doctor. It currently holds:
- A doctor's degree authorization point in secondary discipline of Hydrobiology
- A master's degree authorization point in first-level discipline of Fisheries
- A professional degree authorization point in Master of Agriculture (Fisheries Development)
Four undergraduate programs: Aquaculture, Marine Science, Marine Resources and Environment, and Food Science and Engineering (Marine Food). The college currently enrolls 600 undergraduate students and 235 graduate students (master and doctor).

The college has appointed 1 foreign academician, 3 visiting/adjunct professors, and 4 academicians as Academic Committee members for the Key Laboratory of Marine Biotechnology of Fujian Province, forming a high-quality faculty team with prominent high-level talent advantages and strong developmental momentum.

Teaching and Research Achievements
In recent years, the college has led the 14th Five-Year Plan National Key R&D Program High-resistance and High-quality Large Yellow Croaker Germplasm Innovation and New Varieties Breeding under the ministry-provincial joint funding mechanism (30 million yuan), undertaken the Xiamen New Airport Daxiaodeng Islands Fishery Resource Enhancement and Ecological Restoration Project (44.5 million yuan), and presided over more than 40 major marine and fisheries projects including the National Natural Science Foundation Key Program and the National Key Research and Development Program Intergovernmental International Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation. Among these, 16 national-level projects received total funding exceeding 60 million yuan, with additional horizontal funding surpassing 46 million yuan. The college has published over 170 SCI-indexed papers and won 9 provincial/ministerial scientific achievement awards, including: First Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress in the 6th Fan Li Science and Technology Award (China Society of Fisheries), First Prize of Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, Second Prize of Higher Education Teaching Achievements in Fujian Province.
The college holds over 50 authorized national invention patents. Student achievements include:

The Faculty Party Branch of the Key Laboratory of Marine Biotechnology of Fujian Province under the college's Party Committee was selected as the fourth batch of National Party Building Work Model Branch Cultivation and Creation Units. The Aquaculture program has been featured on CCTV-17 (Agriculture and Rural Channel), with college development achievements frequently reported by Fujian Daily and Xuexi Qiangguo Fujian Platform.
