College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering

The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering traces its roots to the Department of Agricultural Machinery at Fujian Agricultural College, established in 1958. It now comprises six academic departments—Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Artificial Intelligence—along with an experimental teaching and training center.

The college offers a doctoral program in Agricultural Engineering, master’s programs in Agricultural Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (both key disciplines in Fujian Province), and professional master’s programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, and Agricultural Engineering & Information Technology. It currently runs six undergraduate programs, including Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Vehicle Engineering, Agricultural Intelligent Equipment Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Electronic Science and Technology (in cooperation with Taiwan).

Currently, the college has 2,291 enrolled students, including 427 master’s and 31 doctoral students. Its faculty consists of 120 members, including 88 full-time instructors—38 with senior professional titles, 52 with doctoral degrees, and 23 with international academic experience. The college is home to several high-level teaching and research teams at the provincial and university levels and includes recipients of national and provincial talent programs.

Committed to nurturing well-rounded, innovative engineering talent, the college integrates moral development with academic training. It promotes global vision, social responsibility, and engineering ethics, while advancing the principles of international engineering education accreditation—student-centered, outcome-based, and continuously improved.

The Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Automation program is a national-level featured major and first-class undergraduate program. The Vehicle Engineering program is a provincial-level featured specialty. The college has built a number of high-quality off-campus practice bases in partnership with leading enterprises such as CATL, Huadian Corporation, and Soueast Motor, and maintains international cooperation with institutions in South Africa and Taiwan.

The college houses five key provincial and ministerial-level platforms, including the Agricultural AI Specialty Industry Academy (MIIT) and the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Information Perception Technology (Fujian Province). It actively conducts research in fields such as intelligent agricultural machinery, information sensing, smart farming environments, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and new energy vehicle technology.

Over the past three years, the college has undertaken more than 100 national and provincial research projects, secured over RMB 30 million in research funding, published over 200 high-quality academic papers, and received 465 authorized patents—over one-third of the university’s total. It has won multiple provincial-level science and technology awards.

To date, the college has cultivated over 7,000 graduates, many of whom have become leaders in government, research, and industry. Students have achieved outstanding results in national competitions, earning over 100 awards at the national level and 221 at the provincial level in the past three years. Many graduates pursue further studies at top universities such as Tsinghua, Fudan, Zhejiang, and Xiamen. The college maintains a high graduate employment rate, and its graduates are highly valued by employers.
