Introduction
The College of Transportation and Civil Engineering is reaching 70 years of fulfilled education and research excellence. It is home to many provincial key academic programs including one featured academic discipline, one key academic discipline, and four first-class majors. The college currently comprises of five departments: Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Engineering Management, and Forest Engineering. It offers six undergraduate programs, namely Civil Engineering, Intelligent Construction, Engineering Management, Transportation Engineering, Logistics Engineering, and Forest Engineering. There are over 1200 full-time undergraduate students currently enrolled.
Platforms for Teaching and Research
The teaching and research platforms include one post-doctoral research station and one first-level discipline authorized to offer Doctoral degree program in Forestry Engineering, two first-level disciplines authorized to offer Master's degree in Transportation Engineering and Forestry Engineering, and two disciplines to offer Master of Engineering in Civil and Hydraulic Engineering as well as Transportation Engineering. There are over 300 postgraduate and doctoral students. The school has established one experimental demonstration center, 21 different laboratories, two on-campus practical teaching and training bases, more than 40 off-campus comprehensive bases for innovation and entrepreneurship training, and four provincial-level scientific research platforms.
Faculty
The college currently has 72 full-time faculty members, among whom 6 are doctoral supervisors, 46 are full or associate professors, 59 hold a doctoral degree, and 36 have overseas experience. One faculty receives the special government allowance from the State Council, one is a member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, one is honored Fujian High-Level Talent (Category B), one is recognized as Leading Talent in Scientific and Technological Innovation in Fujian Province, one is selected by Tens, Hundreds, and Thousands Talent Project in Fujian, 17 are honored Fujian High-Level Talent (Category C), and one is a talent in forestry and grassland scientific and technological innovation.
Teaching and Research Achievements
The college places great emphasis on educational and teaching reforms, prioritizing undergraduate teaching while balancing teaching and research. The college has achieved remarkable results in teaching and research. It currently has one national-level high-quality shared resource course, one national-level high-quality course, three national first-class courses, and more than 10 provincial undergraduate teaching projects. The teaching achievements have led to one national teaching achievement award and two top-level provincial teaching achievement awards. In recent years, it has led 32 National Natural Science Fund projects, three National Social Science Fund projects, three international cooperation projects, three National Ministry of Science and Technology projects, 45 provincial funded projects, and seven key projects from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, with a total research funding of ¥40 million. It has also undertaken more than 200 research and development projects or technology service projects from enterprises. Many results have reached the internationally advanced and domestically leading levels, including one first prize, six second prizes, and more than 10 third prizes for provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress, one second prize and one provincial third prize for outstanding social science achievements. More than 20 achievements have been appraised, and eight scientific and technological achievements have been successfully industrialized. Over the past five years, more than 300 academic papers have been published, and more than 50 monographs and textbooks have been published.
